Reader's Issue

This month's issue will consist of posts on our Discussion Board from you, our readers. Besides the Questions section, there are two areas where you can share your knowledge with us. One is the Reader's Tips section and the other is the Websites of Interest section. This month's newsletters will have suggestions from these areas.
If you would like to share some tips or favorite websites, please do so on our discussion board. If you have ideas for other areas that people can contribute to, please tell me in the Suggestions to Ray section.

Posting Guidelines

Here are some guidelines for making posts on our discussion board at http://regvac.com/forum/.
  • Text Formatting - If you want to make some text of your message bold, a different color, or a link, here is what to do. Go to the More Post Options section. First highlight the text that you want changed, and then click on the appropriate button. Some people are just clicking on the buttons without highlighting text and then it just shows the opening and closing tags without any text in them.
  • Stay On Topic - Please keep posts in a thread on topic. If you want to start another topic, please do so by starting another thread. Do not post an additional question in a thread that is not about the first question. Do not post an answer in a thread that does not have anything to do with or little to do with the first question. I do delete messages that are off topic.
  • Reply to Answers - If you posted a question and someone answered it, please post a message in the thread telling if that answer worked or not. If you figure out the problem on your own, please post a message in the thread telling the thread what the solution was. There are many threads on our boards where a solution has been given but the person who asked the question never tells whether that solution worked or not.
  • Respect the moderator (that's me) - I will ban people who do not listen to me, who call me a liar (directly or indirectly), or who criticize me. Please, remember that I am the host. If you want to rake me over the coals, start your own discussion board and criticize me to your heart's content.
  • Be courteous - Please always try to be courteous. If you want to criticize people, please do so somewhere else.
  • Do not send emails to me - I started the discussion board to decrease my load. It allows other people to answer questions that otherwise I alone would have to answer. Many people know more than I. The discussion board allows them to answer your question. It also allows others to see the answers. When you send emails to me asking questions or making comments that could be on the board, it increases my load and deprives everyone else.

Reader's Tip - error messages

coolmanoh - Ever get an error message (or any other message) and you have no idea what it means? Google all or part of the message (be sure to put quotes around it) and chances are you will get dozens of web pages dealing with the issue, one or more of which will have an answer to the problem.

Reader's Tip - MP3 Making a Mixed Play List

dietrich - I like to have music in the background and it gets bothersome to stop what I am doing and start a new cd or I get tired of the cd and would like to have a mixed play list. For music on the computer, you can play as long as the play list and your media player can handle it.
To make the long play list,I copied all the the mp3 files from the individual CD mp3 folder to a single folder .You can copy as many mp3 files as you want.
As a practical manner,I limited the usually a group of 10 or so ( about 10 hours of music).
The copy will carry over the track number. After you have completed placing all of mp3's in the folder,Close the folder.
The next time you open the file the mp3's will sorted by track number. You can then choose all of the mp3's on the list then open your task bar File and and choose the player option. The player should play the first track of all the mp3's in the file and it will then go to track 2 and play those etc.
This list can also be used to make a regular cd's if you want a mixed play list.
It is also easy to make a Favorate MP3 File Folder from this type of list. It is wise to make a record of the original disk and track uumber of the songs on the new cd because of the overlap of disks and track numbers. This wll help you to identify the song you are interested in. The titles may not carried over to the cd or cdr.
I am using Win98se.with Ver 9 MSmedia Player
